Maguire Scholars Application Form

    The Maguire scholarship was developed in partnership with the Maguire Foundation and prioritizes being active members of the community. Maguire Scholars graduate with extensive experience in the non-profit sector, leadership training, and career support. Students graduating from the listed affiliate high schools are highly encouraged to apply!

    Maguire Scholars are placed in an internship-level volunteer position with one of our Chester community partners. They also participate in customized, experiential learning opportunities designed to make them stand out as civic leaders, social justice agents and active global citizens.

    Eligibility

    To be eligible for the Maguire Scholars College Program, students must meet the following criteria:

    • Incoming freshmen students who will graduate from an affiliate high school
    • Hold at least a 3.0 GPA or equivalent in high school
    • Engage in community service and/or extracurricular activities
    • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) before March 1, 2023 and list Widener University
    • Qualify for admission to selected institution
    • Demonstrate financial need by having an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) of $0-$25,000

    Requirements

    The Maguire Scholarship totals $5,000 per year for a total of eight consecutive semesters. The following are the scholarship requirements:

    • Maintain a 3.0 GPA
    • Complete 150 hours of mandatory community service with an approved service site
    • Demonstrate excellent leadership and be a positive representative of the university
    • Participate in all required training, events, and academic programming including Scholars 101 orientation, weekly meetings, academic cornerstones like the first-year trip, academic coaching, and other varied experiences
